Moyhu Caravan Park

Well we loaded up the Outlander and headed out for the long Easter weekend on Friday morning to the lovely wine region up to a little place called Moyhu nestled in the gorgeous alpine region of Victoria! On our way up we thought we would stop at Mc Donald’s for a quick bite and jump back on the road, but little did we know that every other person decided the same thing and it was absolute chaos. There was line a mile long just for the girls toilets and to get something to eat well that was near impossible but alas with a handful of patience and a stomach full of hunger pains we prevailed and ate our lunch and hit the road. We finally reached our campsite sometime in the arvo and drove to the back of the Moyhu Caravan Park where we were greeted by our good friends who drove up the night before. The Moyhu caravan park is not a massive place (which is good) and has all the amenities one could ask for (not to mention the pub is at the front as you drive in). A solar heated pool, fantastic BBQ area with two massive four burner BBQ’s Laundry and shower block which were very clean and tree’s that’s basically it.

We had three campsites and at 15 bucks a pop makes it a very cheap weekend indeed especially if you are going to visit the surrounding wineries. The park also has fire drums so you can light your own fire to which we did but on the third night we were told we couldn’t as the drum was to close to our tents and that’s when the fun stopped and the arguments began! Having camped for most of my life I knew exactly how close the tents should be and stated this to the daughter who runs the place not to mention the fact we had a fire extinguisher on hand for the first two nights and an esky of water for the third night but she wasn’t having any of it and told us “To put the fire out” but the fact we had paid for three sites and couldn’t have a fire was sheer ludicrous! So after she walked around the site at 11.00pm telling other people off because the fire was either “ To big” or “ To hot” we were left with a bitter taste in our mouths and hence will not be going back to the Moyhu Caravan Park. The park is Pet friendly, Child friendly, but defiantly  not Adult friendly!

 WARATAH BAY CARAVAN PARK

Waratah Bay Caravan Park is about a 2 hour drive south east of Melbourne. Nestled in the heart of Prom Country it is a mere 20 minute drive from the gateway to Wilson's Promontory.
The Caravan Park is fronted by about 20km of sweeping pristine beach. One of the safest beaches in Victoria, it offers great swimming, surfing and fishing. Boats can be launched off the beach.

The Waratah Bay Caravan Park is a great family Park with children s playground, BBQ's, amenities, powered and unpowered camping sites for tents and caravans, and self contained cabins. It also has a small shop for basic requirements.

The nearby area has plenty of space and flat ground suitable for bike riding with the family. A great place to stay whilst exploring the many beautiful features Prom Country and Gippsland has to offer, or just a great place to relax and soak up the simple things in life such as fresh air and beautiful scenery.

 Powlett River Caravan Park

Located way off the beaten track Powlett river caravan park is a hop, skip and a jump from the main town of Kilcunda Victoria. This caravan park is not like your Big 4 parks where everything is neat and tidy this park is rough! Now i dont mean that in a negative way far from it if anything that's what adds to the charm of the place! On one side you have flat barron grass land which is nothing much to look at apart from the odd kangaroo that hops on by then on another side you have a forest of tea tree's that wind on through until you hit a massive surf beach with sand dunes that go up for ages ( yes body boarding down them is fun).

Although i have'nt spent a night in the actual park travelbugz spent a good hour or so looking around it and it has most of what you need there toilet, shower, etc also there were a number of people fishing in the actual river behind the park whichwas packed with fish! So if it's a bit of the old rough and ready camping you want then this place is the place

to be!
